Britannia Row has purchased 84 of OUTLINE’S new T9 computer controlled amplifiers for its Butterfly inventory. The new amps which feature unparallel power output. The T9 produces 2 x 4800/3000/1300 at 2/4/8 Ohms in a 1 unit rack space with a weight of only 12 Kilograms, other features include Ethernet, RS485, smart card settings, parameters and a power upgrade function. DSP cards can also be fitted for true control of every element of a Butterfly hi-pack. The software for system control monitors all functions and gives the operator total control via a laptop. The GUI shows thermal, impedance, mute, on-off status, grouping etc.

Outline together with Britannia Row have designed and built custom designed racks and patching and wiring infrastructure for the new system enabling for a myriad of configurations.

First outing for the new amplifier system was at London’s Hammersmith Apollo for ”DECAYDANCE”. A sold out multiband line-up featuring FALL OUT BOY, COBRA STARSHIP and GYM CLASS HEROES. Left and right hangs of 12 Butterfly hi-packs were used together with 6 x Subtech 218s per side.

Adam Smith systems engineer for Britannia Row says:

“We did a brief ‘A’ and ‘B’ test between our existing Outline TP6.5’s and the new T9 in the warehouse. The difference between T6.5 and T9 is remarkable. We thought that the TP 6.5s were really good, the T9s are astonishing. The amount of headroom available is unparalleled. It was at this point that I decided a baptism of fire was required so I elected to take the new amps into the Apollo for DECAYDANCE. We wired up the amps and software interface, everything it said on the tin worked first off, absolutely brilliant. The Butterfly has already proven itself over the last year with constant usage on majority of BRP events and has never missed a beat. These new amps and wiring have taken the Butterfly to new heights. To prove the amount of headroom available I am backing of the hi’s -12dB and the low mids at -9dB, subs now run at -3dB and the sound pressure is devastating, every detail in the music can heard with amazing clarity. Control was via Dolby Lake units, with the new amps and software I now have total control of all the system anywhere in the listening environment. The great news is also that with the addition of a DSP card inserted into the amplifiers we can control individual elements within the arrays, and with a further addition of a smart card can actually tailor the amplifiers for even more power. Because the amps can operate from 95 volts to 240 volts this means we can work anywhere in the World with no power supply problems. Butterfly was always good, now it’s stunning”.

The Outline ‘Butterfly’ has seen a busy year throughout the globe, thus many engineers and clients are requesting usage, states Bryan Grant of Britannia Row.

84 nuovi ampli Outline per Britannia Row

La ‘rental company’ più famosa d’Europa acquista 84 finali dall’azienda bresciana e il Butterfly raggiunge ‘nuove altezze’

Dopo aver raddoppiato la quantità di Butterfly Hi-pack e Subtech (rispettivamente 96 e 64) in funzione del sempre maggior impiego nei grandi eventi, la Britannia Row Productions ha deciso anche per l’acquisto di 84 nuovi finali di potenza controllabili via PC, Outline T9 (2 x 4800/3000/1300 su 2/4/8 Ohm), grazie ai quali il line array prodotto a Brescia ‘raggiunge nuove altezze’ - fanno sapere dalla stessa Britannia Row.

Sempre in virtù del rapporto di collaborazione stretta fra Brescia e Londra sono stati anche disegnati e costruiti speciali rack per il trasporto dei nuovi T9: anima di metallo, possibilità di sospensione, ammortizzatori nonché una robustezza meccanica eccezionale; cablaggi a norme militari e totale ‘customizzazione’ per le esigenze, esclusive, della leggendaria ‘rental company’ londinese.

La prima ‘uscita’ con i T9 Outline è stata in occasione dello show ‘DECAYDANCE’ all’Hammersmith Apollo di Londra, spettacolo che ha fatto registrare il tutto esaurito con le esibizioni live di FALL OUT BOY, COBRA STARSHIP and GYM CLASS HEROES; il tutto con 24 Butterfly hi-pack e 12 Subtech 218.

Adam Smith, system engineer per Britannia Row ha commentato testualmente:

“Qualche settimana fa in un rapido ‘A–B test’ nel nostro laboratorio abbiamo messo a confronto i T6.5 Outline usati fino ad oggi con i T9 appena acquistati. Se già pensavamo che il risultato acustico fosse eccezionale con i T6.5, ora con i T9 lo consideriamo fenomenale. La quantità di headroom disponibile è enorme, e, per quel che mi riguarda, senza precedenti. È stato a quel punto che ho deciso per il ‘battesimo del fuoco’ all’Hammersmith Apollo con ”DECAYDANCE”. Negli eventi con Britannia e nell’uso costante il Butterfly non ha mai mancato neanche un colpo, ma questi nuovi amplificatori lo hanno portato a ‘nuove altezze’. A dimostrazione dell’headroom disponibile posso dire che adesso devo regolare gli acuti a -12 dB, i medio-bassi a -9 dB e i sub a -3 dB, nonostante questo con un SPL devastante. Ogni dettaglio della musica può essere udito con sorprendente chiarezza. Processiamo via Dolby Lake ma grazie al software abbinato ai nuovi finali ora abbiamo il totale controllo della situazione. Oltre alla straordinaria potenza disponibile, la grande novità è che possiamo controllare ogni singolo hi-pack e, se un domani volessimo, potremmo via software aumentare ancora la potenza di questi amplificatori trasformandoli da T9 in T11! Poiché possono lavorare da 95 a 240 Volt ciò significa che in qualunque parte del mondo non vi saranno mai problemi di alimentazione”.
