Outline at the China International Entertainment Technology Forum

China International Entertainment Technology Forum is one of the major events during China International Exhibition on Pro Audio, Light, Music & Technology held in Beijing from 2^nd June to 5^th June and it is organized by People’s Republic of China Ministry of Culture, The Ministry of Science & Technology, P.R. China and China Entertainment Technology Association (CETA).

On June 1^st to the 5^th China International Entertainment Technology Forum was held in CTS PLAZA BEIJING. The seminars subject was “The Application of Entertainment Technology in Stadiums” attended by the Chinese Ministry of Art and Culture and the organizing committee of 2008 Beijing Olympic games, which included the Olympic organizers, directors of the games plus  technicians, Broadcasters, representatives from the Chinese Armed Forces, stage, sound and lighting designers. 

Outline's exclusive Distributor for China, Guangzhou ACME invited Outline's Sales & Marketing Director Giorgio Biffi to give a speech about Outline's experience with large sound systems in Stadiums.

Mr. Biffi states rather than speaking about Outline's experience in the past Winter Olympic Games held in Turin in February 2006 (where a large number of OUTLINE’S line array product known as “BUTTERFLY”, plus their class winning stage monitors HARD 212SP and digital PWM power amplifiers T6.5 were utilized by the contractor for the Opening and Closing ceremonies at Turin’s Olympic Stadium), he decided to speak about the recent experience gained by one of our clients BRITANNIA ROW PRODUCTIONS who have had experience with not only the Barcelona Olympics but also the newly built Wembley Stadium where they carried out the initial sound tests.

These tests resulted in their decision to combine the use of a temporary concert or 'touring' PA system with the permanently installed 'house' PA system for some very large shows which Britannia Row are the contractors.

Britannia Row Productions will use a very large number of Butterfly line-array loudspeakers in the new stadium in July, for “THE CONCERT FOR DIANA” which features worldwide known artists organised by their Royal Highnesses Prince William and Prince Harry to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the tragic death of their Mother the Princess of Wales. The following week see’s the “LIVE EARTH” concert organised by the former United States Vice. President Al Gore, together with concert promoters LIVENATION to make the World take notice about global warming. Both concerts will be broadcast worldwide to over 1 billion people and supposed to be attended by more than 100,000 people inside the stadium on each event.

Mr. Biffi did believe that this case study in combining a temporary sound system with one that is a permanent installation might be of interest to almost all the professional people attending the Forum and notably those involved in presenting the Games next year. Indeed the seminar was totally full with standing room only. Which has to be a good indicator of Outline and Britannia Row expertise of staging a world class event such as the Beijing Olympics?

This study deals simply with the placement and use of loudspeaker enclosures and arrays and it has been visually supported by a number of pictures and drawings of the position of the Butterfly line-arrays to be deployed in the stadium as well as many acoustic simulations prepared by the Outline R&D dept. These were then compared to the measurements made in the real stadium.

The other prominent speakers at the forum were the Chinese Drama College Professor Mr. Wang Xin. Chairman of the Show Business Equipments Technique Association Mr. Zhang Yong Jia, and the Director of Entertainment & Performance at the Ministry of Culture of the Peoples Republic of China, Mr. Sun Qiu Xia. Also in attendance were, the Director General of Beijing Special Engineering Design and Research Institute, Mr. Wen Qinglin and the General Manager of Technology for Eastern Acoustic Development Ltd, Mr. Chen Weiqian. Giorgio Biffi concludes: “to have the honour of being invited to such an auspicious occasion and to be able to enlighten fellow professionals was to say the least gratifying, our expertise has been recognised as is that of Britannia Row by the World’s most populated nation, it is for sure that China will put on a Olympic games that will eclipse all those that have gone on before”.

Outline al CETA di Beijing

L’azienda bresciana è stata chiamata a partecipare ad uno tra i più importanti forum cinesi strettamente legati ai Giochi Olimpici di Pechino 2008

Al CTS Plaza di Beijing (Cina) si è tenuto, il 1° giugno 2007, il China International Entertainment Technology Forum (CETA), l’evento di maggior rilievo in concomitanza con la fiera CALM EXPO 2007 dedicata al mercato audio, video e luci professionale di Pechino (2/5 giugno).

“Applicazione di tecnologie per l’intrattenimento negli stadi” era il tema del Forum, al quale hanno partecipato le più alte cariche dello stato cinese, dal Ministro per Arte e Cultura al Ministro per Scienza e Tecnologia fino alla commissione per l’organizzazione dei Giochi Olimpici di Pechino 2008, che comprende una moltitudine di altre categorie di prim’ordine: dai tecnici ad altissima specializzazione fino ai rappresentanti delle Forze Armate Cinesi, dal Chinese Drama College (Show Business Equipments Technique Association) al direttore dell’Entertainment & Performance Department del Ministero della Cultura, al Direttore Generale del Beijing Special Engineering Design and Research Institute.

In considerazione dei Giochi Olimpici che si terranno a Pechino nel 2008, Outline è stata una tra le pochissime aziende (l’unica italiana) chiamate a relazionare nel contesto di questo importante Forum. Il Sig. Giorgio Biffi ha illustrato l’esperienza e le referenze della propria azienda per quanto concerne l’installazione di sistemi di altoparlanti nei grandi stadi e in tutte quelle situazioni di notevole complessità per le quali è richiesta adeguata esperienza oltre a sistemi ad altissime prestazioni per la garanzia del risultato.

Fra gli altri argomenti, nel corso della presentazione, il Sig. Biffi ha ricordato l’esperienza Outline acquisita durante i XX Giochi Olimpici Invernali di Torino 2006 (con il largo impiego di sistemi Butterfly) e si è lungamente soffermato sulla recentissima esperienza fatta a fianco di Britannia Row Productions (il più importante service audio Europeo anch’esso forte di una felice esperienza maturata nella realizzazione delle cerimonie di apertura e chiusura dei Giochi Olimpici di Barcellona) nei test audio realizzati tre mesi fa allo Stadio Wembley di Londra.

Infatti proprio Wembley - luogo deputato ai test con il Butterfly della Outline come appena menzionato - ha ospitato nei giorni scorsi (1 e 7 luglio) due eventi di colossali dimensioni quali il concerto-tributo in memoria di Lady Diana e il Live Earth, concerto dedicato al Pianeta Terra; eventi che sono stati rallegrati dalla presenza di artisti rock e pop della scena mondiale tra cui Elton John, Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Genesis e molti altri con 80.000 spettatori al seguito.

Il Sig. Biffi nel corso della sua presentazione di circa 45 minuti, mediante l’ausilio di disegni, fotografie, simulazioni e rendering, ha illustrato le problematiche e le conseguenti soluzioni adottate per ottenere in ogni punto del nuovo imponente stadio di Wembley il massimo dell’intelligibilità con la più grande pressione acustica consentita e richiesta nel rispetto delle stringenti normative inglesi relativamente ai problemi di inquinamento acustico nella zona adiacente (che è di tipo residenziale).

L’attenzione ed il plauso dei presenti sono stati totali in quanto la descrizione e la dimostrazione hanno centrato pienamente le aspettative dei politici e dei professionisti presenti che dovranno presumibilmente affrontare le medesime problematiche per un evento - quale quello dei Giochi Olimpici di Pechino 2008 - che è già definito come colossale.

Giorgio Biffi conclude: “Il semplice fatto di essere stati riconosciuti dalle massime autorità Cinesi come un’azienda in grado di affrontare e risolvere situazioni complesse in ambito di ‘sound reinforcement’ è stato per tutto lo staff Outline altamente gratificante. Da un paese come la Cina è lecito aspettarsi che l’organizzazione di un evento di questa importanza sia tale da fare impallidire tutto quanto è mai stato organizzato prima da qualunque paese”.
