76 Butterflies at Köln Arena for Herbalife^®

Cologne, Germany, 26/29-7-2007 – After the November 2006 edition in Lisbon, Cologne hosted a monumental Herbalife^® convention, an event for which Outline’s Butterfly line array was specifically requested.

The American giant – leader in the wellness sector, with a million distributors in 61 countries throughout the world and net annual sales totalling 3 billion dollars – has always puts the ‘Audio factor’ at the top of the list of the many aspects that contribute to making a convention perfect.

In Germany, considering the excellent results achieved at the Lisbon Pavilhão Atlântico, to cover the audience of the Köln Arena (20,000 participants) 76 Butterfly CDH 483 Hi-packs, 12 Sub Victor Live and 8 Subtech were used, with relative Outline power amplifiers: a combination of T6.5 and the new T7 units, all of which occupy just one rack unit each, plus Genius 26 DSP for signal management.

The operation was handled by Planet Service of San Marino, a company specialized in corporate events in Italy and abroad and which last year purchased Butterfly systems, as well as HARD 212 monitors.

The impeccable fine tuning of the rig was entrusted - once again - to the capable hands of Carlo Gennaro, a system engineer with twenty years’ experience and great familiarity with the use of the Outlinearray and relative V.I.P. (Vector Implementation Protocol) aiming software.

He comments: “The Americans had asked us for 180° coverage, but then things changed. Just seven days before the event, they wanted 220°, since an estimated 20,000-strong crowd was expected at the arena, which was, in effect, packed with folk. They must all hear perfectly here…and I emphasize the ‘must’…up to the last row of the bleachers… about 120 metres from the stage. After years of work - in Italy and abroad – its always a great personal pleasure to work with Butterfly, just as great as the enthusiasm of Herbalife, who expressed their appreciation and praise - both at the arena and in numerous e-mails to yours truly and Planet Service itself after the event. There’s not much else to say: the Butterfly is an incredibly precise system, very light weight, and small – very small, if you consider all the power it has in the mid-low frequencies. Maybe it’s because I know it well, but it’s hard to ask for more from a line array with has such high speech intelligibility right to the top ring of seats in such a large arena, and still has such a reassuring amount of headroom available for whoever’s responsible for the results.”

Colonia, Germania, 26/29-7-2007 - Dopo quella del novembre 2006 a Lisbona, è stata Colonia la sede di un’altra monumentale convention Herbalife^®, un evento per il quale è stata fatta precisa richiesta del line array Outline Butterfly.

Il colosso americano – che è leader nel settore del benessere con un milione di distributori in 61 paesi del mondo e vendite annue nette pari a 3 miliardi di dollari – fra i molti aspetti che concorrono a rendere perfetta una convention pone da sempre il ‘fattore Audio’ in cima alla lista.

In Germania, considerato il pregevole risultato ottenuto al Pavilhão Atlântico di Lisbona, per coprire l’audience della Köln Arena (20000 presenze) sono stati utilizzati 76 CDH 483 Hi-pack Butterfly, 12 Sub Victor Live e 8 Subtech, con relativi finali di potenza Outline al seguito: un misto fra T6.5 e nuovi T7, rigorosamente a una sola unità rack e DSP Genius 26 per la gestione del segnale.

L’operazione è stata curata dalla Planet Service di San Marino, azienda specializzata negli eventi ‘corporate’ sia in Italia sia all’estero e che l’anno scorso, oltre ai monitor HARD 212, aveva acquistato Butterfly.

L’impeccabile messa a punto dell’impianto è stata consegnata, ancora una volta, nelle mani di Carlo Gennaro, system engineer con ventennale esperienza e che vanta grande familiarità nell’uso dell’outlinearray insieme al relativo software di puntamento, il V.I.P. (Vector Implementation Protocol).

Questi i suoi commenti: “Gli americani ci avevano richiesto una copertura di 180°, ma poi le cose sono cambiate. A soli sette giorni dall’evento ne volevano 220° in considerazione delle 20000 presenze stimate nell’arena che, in effetti, era gremita di gente. Tutti devono sentire perfettamente qui…e sottolineo il ‘devono’…fino all’ultimo anello…a circa 120 metri di distanza dal palco. Dopo anni di impiego anche all’estero, il mio personale compiacimento nel lavorare con Butterfly è sempre grande, così come grande è l’entusiasmo di Herbalife, che non ha risparmiato lusinghe e apprezzamenti sia in arena sia tramite le molte email nei confronti del sottoscritto e della stessa Planet Service a evento concluso. Non c’è molto da aggiungere: è un sistema di una precisione formidabile il Butterfly, pesa molto poco ed è piccolo, piccolissimo per avere tutta quella forza alle medio-basse. Sarà perché lo conosco bene, ma è difficile chiedere di più a un line array che esibisce un’intelligibilità del parlato così elevata fino all’ultimo anello di un’arena così grande, e con ancora un headroom a disposizione così tranquillizzante per chi ha la responsabilità del risultato”.
